Bayou la Loutre Ridge

Overview:

Before the MRGO, forested ridges ran along Bayou la Loutre, providing both storm protection and habitat for migratory birds and other wildlife. The ridge should be restored along the bayou for several miles east and west of the MRGO.

Benefits:

• Mitigate historical impacts of the MRGO channel
• Increase protection from hurricane winds, waves, or storm surge
• Improve fish and wildlife habitat
